This Privacy Policy describes how Sparketernal Technologies Pvt Ltd ("ShopEG," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the ShopEG platform including the consumer-facing store app, merchant dashboard, delivery agent app, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform").
By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.
1. Who This Policy Applies To
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- Consumers: individuals who place grocery or retail orders through a ShopEG-powered store
- Merchants: supermarkets, hypermarkets, or kirana stores using ShopEG to manage their online store and operations
- Delivery Agents and Staff: individuals using the ShopEG delivery or staff management apps
The Platform is intended for use by individuals aged 18 years and above. We recognise that in household contexts, younger individuals may assist adults in placing grocery orders. In such cases, the adult account holder is responsible for supervising and authorising use of the Platform.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
Consumers:
- Name, phone number, and delivery address
- Order history and preferences
- Payment method selection (for example: Cash, UPI, Card, Pay Later). We do not store actual payment credentials such as card numbers or UPI IDs; these are handled directly by the payment gateway.
Merchants:
- Business name, owner name, contact number, and email address
- Store address and delivery zone information
- Billing and subscription details
- Product catalog and inventory data (including POS-synced data where applicable)
- Staff and employee information entered into the Platform
Delivery Agents and Staff:
- Name, contact number, and login credentials
- Order assignments and completion records
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Platform, we automatically collect:
- Device information: device type, operating system, browser type
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, time spent, clicks, and session behaviour
- Location data: real-time GPS location of delivery agents while on an active delivery; approximate location of consumers when placing an order (used to verify delivery area and improve accuracy)
- App performance data: crash logs, error reports, and stability metrics
- IP address and network information
2.3 Information from Third Parties
We may receive limited information from:
- ONDC network: for merchants selling via ONDC, order-related data may flow through the ONDC protocol
- POS systems: inventory, billing, and product data synced from your connected Point of Sale provider
- Payment gateways: transaction confirmation status only (not payment credentials)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected for the following purposes:

We do not use your personal data for targeted advertising, and we do not sell your data to any third party.
4. Push Notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) by Google to send order-related push notifications to consumers and delivery agents. These notifications include order confirmations, status updates, and delivery alerts.
You may disable push notifications at any time through your device settings. Note that disabling notifications may affect your ability to receive real-time order updates.
5. Data Sharing
5.1 With Merchants
When a consumer places an order through a ShopEG-powered store, their name, phone number, delivery address, and order details are shared with the respective Merchant. The Merchant uses this information solely to fulfil and manage the order.
Merchants are independent data controllers for the Customer Data shared with them and are responsible for handling it in accordance with applicable Indian data protection laws, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
5.2 With Delivery Agents
Delivery agents assigned to an order receive the consumer's name, phone number, delivery address, and order summary for the purpose of completing the delivery.
5.3 With Third-Party Service Providers
We share data with the following trusted service providers who help us operate the Platform:

All third-party providers are required to handle data securely and are prohibited from using it for their own marketing or commercial purposes.
5.4 Legal Disclosure
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of ShopEG, its users, or the public.
5.5 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of ShopEG's business, your data may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify affected users prior to any such transfer and before data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and for a period of 5 years after account closure or your last interaction with the Platform. This period is subject to review and may be updated with prior notice.
Data may be retained beyond this period where required by law, for dispute resolution, or to enforce our agreements.
When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it securely.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. These include:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Access controls and role-based permissions for staff
- Secure cloud infrastructure on Azure and AWS
- Regular monitoring via Firebase Crashlytics and Microsoft Clarity
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. In the event of a data breach that is likely to cause harm to you, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required under applicable law.
8. Your Rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable laws, you have the right to:
- Access: request a summary of personal data we hold about you
- Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure: request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention obligations
- Grievance Redressal: raise a complaint about how your data is handled
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@shopeg.in. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and no later than 30 days of receiving your request.
9. Location Data
Delivery agents: Real-time GPS location is tracked only during active delivery assignments. Location tracking stops once the agent logs out, or when the store is closed.
Consumers: Customer location may be requested when placing an order to confirm the delivery address and serviceability. We do not continuously track consumer location.
Location data is not shared with any third party beyond what is necessary to fulfil the delivery.
10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The consumer-facing PWA and merchant dashboard may use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Keep you logged in across sessions
- Remember preferences
- Analyse usage via Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity
You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain Platform features such as staying logged in.
11. Children's Privacy
The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18 as account holders. If you believe a minor has provided personal data to us without appropriate supervision, please contact us at support@shopeg.in and we will take prompt action to review and delete such data.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-Platform notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
